7 days in Tokyo
Hi friends. I’ve finally got a new vlog for you. Around November 2023 I spent a month in Japan (again I know) to escape my problems - and chase the Fall / Autumn colours. The vlog above is the first week I spent in Tokyo and what I got up to. Watch the vlog above - but here are the cliff notes, locations & details:
Camera Shopping in Tokyo
📍Kitamura Camera Shinjuku
Alright this store isn’t the cheapest, but it is such a cool experience walking through all the nicely displayed camera gear. Here you’ll find 4-5 stories of new, used, digital, film, vintage, digicams, action cams, gimbals - basically all the camera gear you’ll need. They don’t really sell accessories here - you’re better off going to Yodobashi around the corner for that.
Like I said, it isn’t the cheapest but you can count on the quality and reliability of the cameras and lenses here. Kitamura is a chain, and you can find many other Kitamura’s in Tokyo and Japan, but I like this one as it is large and displayed nicely. Bring your passport if you are a foreigner as you can get a tax free discount.

📍IMTIAZ’s camera market center akihabara
If you’re on Tiktok or Reels you’ve probably seen this store a ton. I spoke to Imtiaz and told him he was Tiktok famous and he laughed and said I know. There are a trillion options of used digicams, film cameras and some digital. His store is so rammed now that you can’t even go inside (filled to the brim with cameras). He is pretty chill and will let you play with and test whatever camera you want. He will have a battery for the camera to show that it works.
The prices for his cameras are not cheap by any means. You can definitely find it for cheaper online. But that said, it’s nice to buy a new camera to use on your vacation retail therapy. You can also test the camera right there and then to make sure it works. AND he has a extensive range of random cameras which may be hard to find, or some you didn’t even know you wanted. If you do go, tell him I said hi.

My favourite photography spot in tokyo
📍SHINAMACHI STATION
I have many favourite photography spots in Tokyo, but this is probably top of the list. You would know this if you followed me on socials as I have visited & posted this location more than a few times lol. I like how perfect the building sits on it’s own with two streets splitting off to either side. The building, lights and neons are perfect. On this trip I did end up going here 3 times lol as my friends all wanted to see it.
A quaint neon fish restaurant in suburban Tokyo.

All prints are genuine photographs shot & edited by ITCHBAN.
Each print is individually made to order.
Prints are full bleed, edge-to-edge (no white borders).
Frames are not included.
It is recommended to carefully let the prints flatten out over 1 or 2 days before mounting or hanging.
Please be careful of handling each print by hand (especially with the Matte prints) to avoid damage.
Sizing: for a better idea of sizing please look at the sample images in the gallery to the left. The last few sample images have a person holding the print up to give you a better idea of the sizes.

LUSTRE VS MATTE:
Lustre is between a gloss and matte finish. I recommend this finish for most display scenarios as the colours are vibrant and the details are clear.
Matte - Museum-quality matte paper print is giclée-printed on archival, acid-free paper. Recommended for rooms which receive a lot of light to minimise reflections on the print. The matte finish is higher contrast and has deeper blacks for a bolder look.

It is a little bit far from central Tokyo (about 30-40 mins from Shibuya) but worth visiting if you have time.
You get this vantage point from a bridge you can walk up onto. The best time to shoot it is blue hour as there is still some ambient light to ensure your photo is not too dark. You do have to wait for all the lights to turn on though so this may change depending on the time of year. You also need to make sure that the fish restaurant at the bottom is open for the day (they close some nights). If they are closed the bottom lights don’t turn on (obviously).
Watch my vlog at the top of this post if you want to see what it looks like in person. Anyway I think I’m done gatekeeping this spot:
